My Sister’s Keeper: The Crisis of Violence Against Women
This event is sponsored by:
A national crisis is growing, and it affects women across the country. Violence against women is an epidemic that demands our attention and action. Join us for a special Women in Business luncheon at The Country Club at Muirfield Village in Dublin, where we will explore this pressing issue. Melisa Minier, Forensic Manager of Mount Carmel Forensics, will guide us through identifying various forms of violence, providing support, and facilitating healing for victims. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how we can all make a difference in combating this crisis. The program and lunch are included for $40.
Melisa Minier has dedicated fifteen years to advocating for victims of crime at Mount Carmel, where she created Ohio’s first full-time, full-scope forensic program. This program addresses victims' needs from acute care to survivorship, removing barriers to recovery. Melisa’s expertise includes training Columbus’s S.T.O.P officers, educating legal professionals on strangulation's medical implications, and supporting Mount Carmel’s Critical Incident Stress Response Team. Her dedication to improving outcomes for victims of violence is evident in her continuous efforts to provide education and foster collaboration across the medical and legal communities.
In addition to her work at Mount Carmel, Melisa serves on various boards and committees, influencing policy and protocol to support victims statewide. She has been recognized as the Forensic Nurse of the Year (2023) and the Sexual Assault Response Network of Central Ohio’s Community Partner of the Year (2024). Melisa has also addressed the Ohio House of Representatives and Senate, advocating for legislation to protect victims of violence. Her roles on the Human Trafficking Healthcare Subcommittee and the Sexual Assault Advisory Board of Ohio highlight her commitment to making meaningful change. Join us to hear Melisa’s insights and learn how we can all contribute to addressing violence against women.
